I wonder how truthful this claim that if Toyota were to be out, FHI would have a hard time doing it on their own. Sure they had to use Toyotas fuel, injection and variable timing technology but otherwise it seems like it's all Subaru engineering and built in FHI plant. Financials perhaps?

I think it has more to do with the chassis being unique to the BRZ and frs. Without the frs it would cost a lot to use that chassis.

There is a huge amount of R&D money that goes into designing a new chassis, but now that the chassis is done, I don't think it would cost much more to keep on producing on the same chassis, which Subaru has a tendency to do for a long time. If they are talking about an all new chassis then it's another story but I don't see that happening too soon.
